Introduction

We have a wide range of information resources available to all our users.

Whether you need information for a course or career, help with homework, or facts about the burning issue of the day, we can help!

What you'll find at each library

At every library you will find:

  • a range of adult fiction and non-fiction reflecting local need
  • a selection of children's fiction and information books, including a small range of children's encyclopaedias and basic reference books such as an atlas and dictionary
  • local information including: a folder of local history information specific to the area around that library; local telephone book; list of councillors; a local street map; Directory of Local Organisations
  • a current local newspaper, e.g. the Evening Chronicle or News Guardian (no back files are kept at the smaller branches)
  • a basic adult reference collection including; Whitaker's Almanac; a world atlas; dictionaries of various subjects e.g., proverbs, quotations, medical; a multi volume encyclopaedia; a thesaurus; Guinness Book of Records; Rail Timetable
  • information on local courses
