Teachers' Reading Challenge
This initiative is the first teachers’ reading challenge of its kind, utilising resources from the Open University’s Reading for Pleasure programme and The Reading Agency’s Summer Reading Challenge. It aims to help teachers develop their reading repertoire of children’s texts and offers resources and advice on enhancing children’s reading experiences.

Choose from novels, picture books, non-fiction, class sets, artefacts, resource packs, multi-media packs, language collections, story sacks, cloth books, big books, CDs, DVDs, interactive whiteboard resources and lots more.
Schools can choose from four different subscription packages:
- Level 1 - 150 items at one time, £304
- Level 2 - 400 items at one time, £578
- Level 3 - 700 items at one time, £940
- Level 4 - 1000 items at a time, £1250
Level 4 subscriptions include:
- Deliveries: project boxes are delivered every term to and from your school
- Professional consultancy service
- 150 item bulk fiction loan
- One off project loans
- Discounted author visits
These are compiled by SLS Librarians to meet the specific requirements of individual teachers and will include any combination of non-fiction or fiction books, and other resources including ‘big books’, artefacts, picture packs and multimedia items as appropriate.
