CV and job application advice
Looking for a job can be exciting, frustrating and scary - especially if you are new to the world of work. It may be best to think of job hunting as a ‘job’ in itself. It takes time, thought, effort and determination. In a competitive job market, you need to make your application stand out!
A starting point is your CV (or Curriculum Vitae – which means ‘the pathway you have taken through life’) and is a document that tells the employer about you - what subjects you have studied, what qualifications you have got, and any jobs you have done. It’s your personal statement, plus facts about your life.
North Tyneside Connexions service offers a Job Application Pack that takes you through the job search process, identifying your strengths, putting together a CV, and applying for jobs.
