Wallsend Town Centre
Regeneration of Wallsend Town Centre – Wallsend Customer First Centre (including a new Changing Places Facility due to open in 2017), new Aldi supermarket and associated large town centre car park, Burger King restaurant / drive through.
Comprehensive restoration of Northumberland Park supported by a Heritage Lottery bid and NTC capital, total cost of the restoration of £3.6m. A new café has been built which has provided 4 full and part time jobs.
From 2014 to 2016 completion of Swans Centre for Innovation Phase 1 – currently 91 per cent occupied; Completion of roads and utilities including new bridge at Benton Way; Dredging of deep water river berths at Swans.
Successful bid to the Coastal Communities Fund for £750,000 to facilitate the refurbishment of the Old Low Light building at the Fish Quay in partnership with the Old Low Light team (formerly known as The Net) which has provided a new facility at the Quay, including a cafe, heritage museum and community/function space.
