A six-week public consultation has opened into the proposed merger of two leading North East colleges.
Open until noon on Friday, March 17, it aims to gauge opinion on plans by South Tyneside College and Tyne Metropolitan College to combine their resources and expertise into one.
College leaders say merger will strengthen their overall package of teaching and learning and safeguard existing services in what is a rapidly changing and challenging education landscape.
The new organisation, with the proposed name of Tyne Coast College, will operate across all existing campuses on both sides of the river, supporting the education and training needs of around 20,000 full and part-time students.
