Every household in North Tyneside has received a Household Enquiry Form (HEF) as part of this year’s canvass of electors. We still need a response even if all the details are correct.
We will soon be sending reminders to those properties where a response has not been received. Please help us by responding before 4 August so we do not have to produce a reminder.
The easiest way to return your information is to respond via the HEF response website, text or phone. This means we don’t have to manually process a paper form and is a more effective use of resources.
Starting from 23 September personal canvassers will be visiting non-responding properties. If you want to prevent a canvasser from calling please respond as soon as possible.
The Annual Canvass of Electors
The Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) has a duty to maintain the Register of Electors.
The ERO is required by law to carry out a canvass of properties every year to keep the register up to date and accurate. The canvass allows us to check who lives at your address and who can register to vote. It gives residents the opportunity to confirm that the information held is correct and also allow us to collect new registrations.
Being registered to vote means, not only having a say in the local area and in who runs the country, but it could also improve your credit rating.
Anyone added to your HEF will still need to register individually to complete the process. They can do this quickly and easily on line at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote
