Changes to the service
From 1 April 2019, construction, housing repairs and maintenance services – currently delivered by Kier North Tyneside – will return to the direct management of the council.
We are committed to delivering the best possible service to our tenants as we can and providing value for money for tenants’ rent is of paramount importance to us.
We’re busy planning the transfer and we continue to work closely with Kier North Tyneside to ensure the transition is smooth.
During the transition, tenants shouldn’t experience any change, delay or disruption to the service they receive and will be able to request any repairs via the usual methods.
To ensure residents’ priorities are fully considered, we have started running tenant engagement sessions to discuss options around the repairs service after 2019. The tenant group have agreed the following priorities are important:
- Respect for the customers and their homes
- Getting jobs right first time
- More flexibility
- Self-service appointments and self-help options
All tenants are welcome to join the engagement groups and have their say on housing services. We will also be inviting all tenants to provide feedback on the forthcoming changes – this will involve a range of engagement activity, including consultation events and surveys.
More information will be provided in due course about the new arrangements, however if you would like to know more or be involved, email Construction.Project@northtyneside.gov.uk or call 0345 2000 102.
Sub-contractor and supplier event
Local sub-contractors and suppliers were invited to events we held on July 24 and July 25.
These events are helping us shape our procurement activity to secure a supply chain for our future construction and repairs and maintenance services.
Attendees heard that from March 31, 2019 all existing Kier contracts to deliver the council’s construction and repairs and maintenance work will come to an end and a new supply chain must be procured. We will be doing this via the NEPO portal, so those who are interested must register on the portal in order to apply, at www.nepo.org. Once registered, you will receive notifications of any tendering opportunities. Please be sure that when registering you provide an active email address and set your profile to receive notifications from the ‘UNSPSC category 72000000’ and the ‘North East Region of Supply’ - a guide of how to do this is available below.
In case you weren't able to attend, copies of the presentations delivered at the events can be found below.
The events were very much the first step and we will be holding further events to shape our thinking before going out to tender later this year. More information will be provided in due course.
In the meantime, you can continue to support us by completing the questionnaire below and returning it via email as soon as possible.
