Requesting Books
You can go on the Online Library Catalogue – https://capitadiscovery.co.uk/northtyneside - and request specific books, you will need your library membership number and PIN. You can then select which of the participating sites you would like to collect you books from. When our staff have your books they will give you a ring to let you know when you can come and collect them.

You can give your preferred participating library a ring and ask for a selection of books, this could be a particular genre, books by authors that you enjoy or books on a non-fiction subject. Library staff will select books for you and then give you a ring to arrange a collection time. The telephone numbers are above.

You can also use the telephone option to request particular books if that is easier for you than using the online catalogue.

Please note we have a lot of books out on loan that were unable to be returned during the lockdown period, if you are using the online catalogue you will see large numbers that were due back over the last few months. We don’t know when these will be back with us, so please bear this in mind when looking for popular items.

Collecting your books
When we call you will be given options for collection, the day and am/pm.
When you arrive at the library your books will be issued and waiting for you to collect at or near the entrance.
All of the buildings have safe distancing measure in place so it will be a different experience than you are used to.

Books on loan
The participating sites have receptacles available for you to place books that you are returning. Just drop them off in these and we will make sure that they are safely handled.
There are currently no fines on overdue items, and there is no pressure to get books back.
