- We have children waiting to be adopted; from babies to pre-school children and older.
- We have already placed 15 children this year including 7 babies, 6 pre-school children and 2 older children.
- Ofsted rated us as Good in Spring 2017.
- We are a non-profit organisation so our focus is on the best interests of the children and providing the best support for adopters.
- We cover application costs such as medical and DBS checks.
- We find the best match for you and your family as we are responsible for all the local children in care.
- You will receive a high level of support from your social worker, so help is always at hand if you need it.
Don't just take our word for it, this is what our adopters say:
“Some people think that it takes a special person to adopt a child. It doesn’t. But I think there is one special attribute that you need more than anything else and that’s patience.
Because it is not the same as looking after your own children, if you have them. There will be challenges, but in life if there aren’t challenges, there aren’t the same rewards. And it is overcoming those challenges that give you a reward that probably you wouldn’t find in any other way in life.
If one thing drives me as an adoptive parent, it is the desire to see my children grow to their full potential as they move into adult life, and develop into rounded individuals, polite, respectful, adventurous, curious, expressive and burning full of the fire of life”.
"The support we received from North Tyneside Council was excellent. From our initial enquiry to our final adoption papers all of the staff that we dealt with were informative, engaging and responsive.
The training we received was in depth, realistic and prepared us well to build a strong relationship with our child. The support we received from our social worker was outstanding. On a number of occasions North Tyneside staff went above and beyond to make sure the process worked for us including working outside of normal hours. I would have no hesitation is recommending North Tyneside Council’s Adoption Service".
"Despite being hesitant at the beginning of the process I have to say that adopting my little girl is the best thing that I have ever done. I’m not pretending that life hasn’t changed, it really has, I have less time for the things that I want to do but seeing my little girl happy and her giving me cuddles makes it all so worth while. I really do love being her mammy.
The support and training that I received from North Tyneside Council’s Adoption service throughout the process was fantastic and well considered. My social worker was amazing and completely honest throughout the process. I would urge anyone who is thinking about adopting to speak to North Tyneside Counci’s Adoption Service and find out for themselves what it means to adopt. "
“We are second time adopters who now have two beautiful, amazing children, who we wouldn't change for the world. The chaos, laughter and memories they bring are priceless and can't imagine life before them. We were extremely lucky with the adoption process, in that we had rather a short wait both times for matching. The process itself went really well, we felt very at ease talking about all aspects of our lives. Our social worker supported us at every stage and it felt like she became part of our lives and family. Thank you North Tyneside for everything you have done for us, for making our family complete.”
“North Tyneside Council were supportive; keeping us informed at all stages of the adoption process. We adopted twice through North Tyneside Council and were matched very quickly on both occasions. We truly feel our needs and wishes were met perfectly both times. We feel very lucky and very grateful to North Tyneside Council for giving us two wonderful children. We would not hesitate to recommend North Tyneside Council to anyone wanting to adopt.”
