Improving sustainable travel links to the Metro

Introduction

North Tyneside Council is committed to enabling more people to use active and sustainable forms of travel, including improving links between cycling and public transport.

It supports the local authority’s action on climate change and ambition to work towards North Tyneside being carbon net-zero by 2030.

The council, supported by its partner Capita, secured funding from the Department for Transport’s Transforming Cities Fund to improve links to several Metro stations in the borough.

A number of schemes have already been carried out:

  • South Parade
  • Northumberland Park
  • Front Street
