Overview
North Tyneside Council is committed to enabling more people to use active and sustainable forms of travel.
This includes creating safer routes for pedestrians improving provision across the highway network. It supports the local authority’s ambition to work towards the borough being carbon net-zero by 2030. As part of this commitment, the council is improving the infrastructure at Harrow Street Bridge, the work is being delivered by the council’s partner Capita.
What improvements are being carried out?
The work will involve:
- New fencing installed improving the safety for pedestrians.
- Additional supports put in place to secure the walk way ramps on both sides of the bridge.
How and when are the works taking place?
The scheme was completed in September 2023.
