Timetable for Reception class applications

WE WILL WORK THROUGH THE EMAILS AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE AND REPLY TO YOUR QUERY. WE WILL BE UNABLE TO RESPOND TO EMAILS IF WE ARE TAKING PHONE CALLS.  PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE GIVEN US YOUR CHILD’S NAME AND DATE OF BIRTH IN YOUR EMAIL

National Offer Day for starting Reception class in September 2024 is the 16th April 2024.

If you applied online using the Portal, and asked to be notified by email, you will receive an email on this day telling you the school your child has been allocated.  You can also log on to your account on the Portal on the 16th April 2024 to find out what the response is to your application.

If you applied on a paper form, on the 16th April 2024 you will be sent a letter by second class post telling you the school your child has been allocated.  Please do not contact us until you have received the letter.  We will not be able to give you any information by email or telephone until you have received the letter.

  • If your child has not been allocated a school/s you applied for, and you want to appeal against this decision, please go to Education Appeals on the North Tyneside Council website, where you can fill in your appeal online  my.northtyneside.gov.uk/category/224/appeal-school-place-decision  
  • If your child has been allocated a place at a school you have not applied for this is because the Local Authority have to offer you a school, and the place allocated is the nearest school to where you live with a place available. If you don’t want to accept this place and want to be considered for another school, you must complete an application form to be considered after the 2nd May 2024. Application forms are available on the Council’s website. You cannot apply online as the system is closed.
  • If the school you have been refused is not in North Tyneside we cannot advise on the appeal process, you will need to contact the Local Authority the school is in.
  • If you want to accept the place you child has been offered, you can do this by accepting on the Portal if offered online.  Or you can email us if you are unable to do this or you have received an acceptance slip with a letter.  We can accept the place on your behalf.  If you want to go on the waiting list for a school you applied for but were not offered, please email us and we can add you to the waiting list.
  • If you do not want to accept this place and would like to apply for another school, please fill in a paper Common Application form.  These are available to print out on the North Tyneside Council website at my.northtyneside.gov.uk/category/381/paper-application-forms

National Offer Day for Y5 of a Middle school, Y7 of a High School, and Y9 in Monkseaton High School or Whitley Bay High School to start in September 2024 is the 1st March 2024.

  • If you applied on a paper form, on the 1st March 2024 you will be sent a letter by second class post telling you the school your child has been allocated.  Please do not contact us until you have received the letter.  We will not be able to give you any information by email or telephone until you have received the letter.

  • If your child has not been allocated a school/s you applied for, and you want to appeal against this decision, please go to Education Appeals on the North Tyneside Council website, where you can fill in your appeal online  my.northtyneside.gov.uk/category/224/appeal-school-place-decision  
  • If your child has been allocated a place at a school you have not applied for this is because the Local Authority have to offer you a school, and the place allocated has been based on the nearest school to where you live with a place available. Application forms are available on the Council’s website. You cannot apply online as the system is closed.
