Elected Mayor, Norma Redfearn CBE
Norma Redfearn was re-elected as Mayor of North Tyneside for the third time in May 2021.
Can I first of all say how delighted I was that our residents put their trust in me by electing me to serve for them for another 4 year term. Hopefully this is testament to the work that we have carried out and progress that we have made in North Tyneside on behalf of our residents.
Residents have told me that we have made a difference and that they now believe that change can actually happen. Of course, I haven’t don’t all of this alone so would like to take this opportunity to thank my Cabinet colleagues and our officers for their hard work over not only the past year but the past 4 years. Also our businesses and voluntary and community sector for their support.
During the past 4 years residents have seen many of my commitments become a reality.
I have continued with my commitment of being a Listening Mayor and leading a Council that puts our residents and communities first, whilst delivering value for money services that meet local needs.
It has been my mission since I was first elected and continues to be to deal with the issues raised by our residents and deliver the real improvements for the borough that they have told me they wanted.
Today I am still listening to our residents and along with my Cabinet colleagues we are delivering the real changes that our residents want to see.
To help me move forward with my priorities for the next 4 year I have a Deputy and a team of Cabinet member that will focus on the issues that really matter to local people and who will help involve our residents in the decision making process.
The Cabinet will be visible within local communities working with our residents.
