Note - Due to COVID-19 related pressures on the processing of Blue Badge applications and reapplications, the UK and devolved governments and local government associations advised that local authority parking teams should not issue Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) to citizens using Blue Badges with an expiry date of 1 January 2020 onwards. This relaxation of enforcement against expired Blue Badges ended on 30 September 2020.

To minimise the possibility of PCN’s being issued to badge holders who may have overlooked or were not aware of the end date of the relaxation of enforcement, authorities have been advised to issue Warning Notices for first offences (only) up until the end of October 2020.

The warning notice does not impose a financial penalty but serves to remind citizens that they need to apply to renew their Blue Badge as a matter of urgency.

The website will explain what kind of proof you need to submit with your application. This must be sent to us within 10 days of submitting your application.

Paying for your Blue Badge

You can only pay for your Blue Badge when we have contacted you by telephone or letter to confirm your application has been successful. Please don't include payment with your application.

You can pay with a credit or debit card by calling 0345 2000 107.

Once an application is approved and the fee has been received, it will be posted to you within 10 days. Urgent Badges for the terminally ill can be processed within 24 hours.

Refused applications

If your application is refused you can request a review. You should contact us and make a request within 20 days of the refusal.

The review will be completed as soon as possible and normally within 20 days.
