We issue premises licences for:
- casinos
- betting offices
- race tracks
- bingo clubs
- adult gaming centres (over 18s only)
- family entertainment centres (which have machines that children can use)
Applications for operating and personal licences should be made through The Gambling Commission.
How to apply
To apply for a licence:
- download the relevant application form
- return it to us with a plan of the premises and fee
- send the notice of application to all responsible authorities within seven days of making your application
- publish a prescribed notice of application in a local newspaper within 10 working days of making your application.
- publish the same prescribed notice of application on the premises, where it can be read by the public from outside - this must must stay for 28 days, starting from when the application is made

Premises such as casinos, bingo halls, betting shops and amusement arcades (known as family entertainment centres and adult gaming centres) require a premises licence under the Gambling Act 2005 issued by North Tyneside Council.

Apply for a provisional statement
If your premises are still under construction or being altered you can apply for a provisional statement to see if the premises would be granted a licence after the building works are complete. You can also apply before concluding legal arrangements to buy or lease the premises.
