Street trading

If you are trading within North Tyneside from a place where members of the public have direct access you must have a licence or consent from us.

You will need:

• a street trading licence if you wish to trade in one of the 8 coastal zones (see below)
• street trading consent for anywhere else in North Tyneside

There is a limit on the number of licences (not consents) we issue in the zone areas. Please contact us to discuss this prior to making an application.

If you trade from any of the coastal zones you must apply for a licence. For details of fees, see the relevant zone information.

If you are trading outside the coastal zones you must have our consent.

Boundaries are both sides of Trinity Road, Trinity Road car parks and St Mary’s Island.

Boundaries – St Marys Island Access Road / Trinity Road (both sides), The Links (both sides) including Bournemouth Gardens car park, Watts Road (both sides),

Watts Slope (both sides), and the Northern Promenade (both sides) and foreshore to include Whitley Beach.

Boundaries – Both sides of Marine Avenue, Park Road, back lane of East Parade, back lane of South Parade, South Parade, Junction of Oxford Street, York Road, South Parade and Whitley Road, Promenade, Eastcliffe, Rockcliffe Gardens, Southern Promenade and southern end of Whitley Sands and foreshore.

Boundaries – Both sides of Windsor Crescent, Promontory Crescent, Victoria Crescent, Front Street and Beverley Terrace. To include the northern area of headland to Tynemouth North Point, Cullercoats Bay, Browns Point and Browns Bay foreshores.

Boundaries – Both sides of Beverley Terrace, Grand Parade including Beaconsfield, Beach Road, Tynemouth Park and Longsands Beach foreshores.

Boundaries – Both sides of Percy Park, Percy Park Road, Front Street, Huntingdon Place, Station Terrace, Newcastle Terrace, Priors Park, Pier Road, Pier Road, East Street, Sea Banks and Percy Gardens. Also including King Edwards Bay beach, promenade and foreshores.

Boundaries – North Pier and Lighthouse. The Haven beach and foreshore, Collingwood Monument field, promenade and foreshore and Low Lights Car Park.

Boths side of and fully inclusive of Cliffords Ford, Union Quay, Western Quay, Bell Street, Liddell Street, Dolphin Quay, Clive Street, Duke Street and New Quay including landing stage.

Boundaries – Both sides of Coble Dene and Commissioners Wharf, also including Tyne Commission Quay and Albert Edward Dock.
