Making a splash for charity

Charitable residents are invited to take on a swimming challenge at one of North Tyneside’s most popular leisure centres.

Hadrian Leisure Centre will be inviting members of the public to take part in a ‘one mile swimming challenge’ to raise money for the ‘Learning Disability North East’ charity.

Fundraisers will be invited to raise as much money as possible for the challenge, before completing the challenge, equating to 64 lengths of the pool, on Saturday, May 21, between 4pm and 7pm.

All money raised will go towards a new mini bus for members of the charity, allowing them to get out and about and take part in social events like swimming.

The closing date for entries is on Friday, May 6 and registration for the event costs £4 per person.

Entrants must be over the age of 14 and anyone between 14 and 16 years old must have parental consent.

Everyone taking part will be given a fundraising sheet and those interested in registering can do so by picking up an application form at Hadrian Leisure Centre, or by emailing hadrianleisure@northtyneside.gov.uk.

For more information, call the centre on (0191) 643 2025 or visit Hadrian’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/HadrianLeisure.
