Celebrations for council's young stars

North Tyneside Council's apprentices at the celebratory lunch

North Tyneside Council is celebrating the success of some of their youngest and brightest, as nine apprentices earned full-time contracts within the organisation.

Since starting in September 2014, the young people have worked within their respective teams, ranging from Adult Social Care to Communications and Marketing, while also working with external tutors to earn their qualifications.

To celebrate the success, the young people were invited to a special lunch in their honour, attended by Elected Mayor Norma Redfearn, Chair of the Council, Gary Bell, and the Chief Executive of North Tyneside Council, Patrick Melia.

Congratulating the young people, the council’s Workforce Programme Adviser, Tina Adams, said: “I’m absolutely delighted that so many of our apprentices have been kept on within the organisation.

“They’re a fantastic group who have worked extremely hard to get to this point and I’m sure this is only the beginning of their success.”

The council will continue to support apprenticeships, with 19 appointed in 2015 and a further 14 to be recruited throughout 2016.
