Pupils from two North Tyneside schools will receive a taste of working life as part of an upcoming event.
Staff from Churchill Community College and Norham High School have joined forces with local employers to offer all year 10 students a mock job interview.
Each student will have their own individual interview where they will discuss their skills, knowledge and aims, helping to hone their interview technique and prepare them for when they start their own job hunt.
Employers will be asked to pick the interviewees most suited to their company, with the selected students awarded a prize for their efforts.
David Baldwin, Executive Headteacher of both schools, said: “Recent research confirms that students who have had regular and meaningful contact with employers throughout their time at school have higher aspirations.
“This will be an amazing day where we will also be welcoming back some of our school alumni to support workshops and inspire our current students. We are delighted to have the support of such a wide range of local employers and to have support from North Tyneside Council and the Connexions service to provide such a valuable experience for our students. ”
Over 20 of the North East’s employers will attend the event, including Sainsbury’s, Siemens, AIS, Capita and Accenture. The young people will also receive a few words of wisdom from North Tyneside Council’s Deputy Chief Executive, Paul Hanson.
The students will be engaging with former pupils from the schools and will work alongside advisers from the Connexions service on researching market information.
The event will take place at The Parks leisure centre, North Shields, on Thursday, June 9 from 9am to 3pm.
