Summer fun continues in North Tyneside

There’s summer fun for everyone in North Tyneside as a jam-packed programme of events continues.

Organised by North Tyneside Council, the Summer Festival programme puts on an array of entertainment and events ranging from street performers to Lego workshops.

The fun continues this weekend at the Spanish City Plaza with shows from international street performers on the hour between noon and 3pm, including escapologist Rob Roy Collins and The Brucie Show from Australia.

The Whitley Bay Kite Festival returns to the Links this weekend guaranteeing some colourful sights in the skies between 11am and 3pm both days. There will be a Japanese 100-kite train and Fusion – one of Europe’s best synchronised flying teams.

Activities continue at Tynemouth Station with more free events taking place next week from Monday to Friday.

There are interactive sessions for youngsters aged under five and their parents in the mornings from Startastic Tots, Glooptastic, Book Happy and more.

In the afternoons, there will be a varied programme of live jazz performances between 1pm- 4pm, with Broadway Melody, Zoe Gilby and the Maine Street Jazzmen just a few of the acts on show.

There’s a variety of free and paid-for events taking place throughout the borough, from Den Building at the Rising Sun Countryside Centre to Rockpool Rambles at St Mary’s Lighthouse.
