Funday for youngsters and their teddies

If you go down to the Rising Sun you’re sure of a big surprise... as North Tyneside Council’s ever-popular Teddy Bears’ Picnic returns for another year!

Inviting teddy bears and their owners for a fun-filled afternoon, the picnic will feature funfair rides, balloon artists, face painters and bear- themed creative dance, as well as live animals for the children to hold and learn more about.

Taking place on Wednesday, August 17 between 12noon and 3pm at the Rising Sun Country Park, John the Magician’s remarkable show will entertain people throughout the afternoon, while they enjoy their picnic on the green.

And everyone can enjoy a trip down to the Celtic Village to make a woodland crown and take a sneaky peek into the three bears’ house that was visited by Goldilocks, while they are out.

Tickets, priced at £4 per person (under three years go free), are limited and are only available in advance from the Rising Sun Country park cafe or reception.

Cllr Eddie Darke, Cabinet member for Leisure, Culture and Tourism, said: “The Teddy Bears’ Picnic is a great family fun day in the fantastic setting of the Rising Sun Country Park.

“The picnic is one of our most popular events year after year. Grab your ticket early and make sure you don’t miss what is sure to be a fantastic day out.”
