Bringing author's work to life

The work of a renowned North Shields author will be celebrated as part of a special event.

As part of the BBC’s Love to Read campaign, North Tyneside Council’s library service is looking to inspire local readers with a number of special activities.

Launching in North Tyneside on October 17, the campaign begins with a walk following the ‘Westall trail’, merging fact with fiction as participants visit a series of locations that inspired the work of renowned North Shields author Robert Westall.

The walk will be led by historian Ken Hutchinson, starting from North Shields Metro Station at 1pm and is expected to finish at around 3pm at Tynemouth Metro Station.

The event is free to be a part of and doesn’t need to be booked. Sensible footwear is recommended as the walk does feature some steep hills.
