North Tyneside will see the introduction of Full Service Universal Credit (UC) for working age claimants this week.
Universal Credit first became available in North Tyneside from 23 November 2015, for single jobseekers who would normally have made a new claim for Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance.
And from May 2, 2018, Full Service Universal Credit will be available to all working age claimants across the borough that have a change in their circumstance and are required to make a new claim for one of the following benefits that it is replacing.
• Housing Benefit
• Income Support
• Employment and Support Allowance Income Related
• Job Seekers Allowance Income Based
• Tax Credits – Child and Working Tax Credit.
Those currently claiming these benefits will see no change until they have a change in their circumstances that mean they need to make a new claim for one of these benefits
UC will eventually replace these benefits so all working age claimants getting these will move onto Universal Credit at some point in the future.
Help to apply for Universal Credit, as well as further guidance and information, can be found at https://my.northtyneside.gov.uk/category/505/universal-credit.
