North Tyneside Council is inviting the public to give their views on how it regulates gambling activities in the borough.
The Gambling Act 2005 gives licensing authorities a range of powers to licence gambling activities in their communities.
North Tyneside Council’s Licensing Policy Statement provides guidance on the approach the council, as licensing authority, takes on gambling licensing matters.
It must be reviewed every three years and this includes public consultation, which will run from 1 June to 13 July 2018.
As part of the review, the council is considering its current ‘no casino’ resolution, which prevents any casino operating in the borough.
Views on this, and the Licensing Policy Statement as a whole, are invited from residents, licence holders and local businesses.
The aim is to ensure the policy accurately reflects the balance between the commercial interests of the local trade, the communities they serve and the impact upon them.
The licensing service is delivered for the council by its partner Capita.
