Visitors flocked to North Tyneside to enjoy live music and entertainment at the four-day Mouth of the Tyne Festival.
Basking in the sun-soaked coastline, thousands of people watched award-winning artists perform at Tynemouth Priory and Castle.
Organised by North Tyneside Council, it took place from Thursday until Sunday (July 5 – 8) and headliners included Paloma Faith, James Arthur, Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott, and Beverley Knight.
Crowds also enjoyed performances at Playhouse Whitley Bay and Tynemouth’s Surf Café.
And families visited Tynemouth Station to join in with children’s activities and watched a colourful pageant along Front Street.
Speaking about the festival’s success, North Tyneside Elected Mayor, Norma Redfearn, CBE, said: “It was another brilliant year for Mouth of the Tyne Festival and the atmosphere over the four days was fantastic.
“With the mix of live music concerts, international street entertainment, jazz music and, of course, the wonderful parade featuring local schoolchildren, there was plenty to see and do. I really enjoyed meeting and talking to so many residents and visitors.
“The festival attracted over 100,000 people, providing a boost to the local economy – supporting our commitment to making North Tyneside a great and prosperous place to live, work and visit.”
Now in its 14th year, the event has grown into one of the region’s favourite summer festivals.
The festival was supported by Engie, Port of Tyne and Kier and has also hosted a range of artists including Paul Weller, Elbow, James Bay, The Script, James Morrison and Bryan Ferry.
