Wallsend ready for festival fun

The popular Wallsend Festival returns this weekend with a free and fun packed programme.

Now in its 18th year, the festival will take place in Wallsend town centre on Saturday 30 June and at Wallsend Green and Richardson Dees Park on Sunday 1 July. 

The annual event will see a selection of fairground rides, live music, dance performances, and a range of stalls selling crafts, gifts and food produce.

Wallsend Customer First Centre will host activities for children including crafts, facepainting, a toy stall and a screening of The Greatest Showman. 

Wallsend Local History Society will be exhibiting from the Wallsend Indoor Market with a popular display on Wallsend’s past.

A collection of vintage cars will be on display in the town centre on Saturday as part of the festival. The classic cars will be parked along High Street East and people can take a look inside and chat to the owners.

On the Sunday, Wallsend Hall and Green will have fairground rides, live music, craft stalls and entertainment for children.

Richardson Dees Park will offer a full day of fun outdoor activities including; roaming street performers, a circus themed obstacle course, nerf wars, skateboard and scooter demonstrations, and more. 

The festival will take place between 10am and 5pm on Saturday and between 10am and 6pm on Sunday.

The Backworth Male Voice Choir will be performing at Wallsend Memorial Hall on Friday 29 June at 7pm, with support from Rebecca Currie. Tickets are £7 and are available in advance from the hall reception.
