Applications are now open for the best of North Tyneside’s businesses to apply for the annual awards.
North Tyneside Business Forum is now inviting businesses of all sectors and sizes to submit their applications for the 21st North Tyneside Business Awards.
Businesses can enter any of the five categories, and all individual winners will be automatically entered for the coveted North Tyneside Business of the Year Award.
The categories are:
- New Business
- Retail & Service Provider
- Leisure & Tourism
- Manufacturing & Construction
- Digital & Innovation
And this year, there is the second annual ‘Heart of the Community’ award category. This award is open for the public to nominate a business they feel deserves this award, nominations for this award will be accepted until Tuesday 28th August.
The glistening awards ceremony will take place on Thursday 15th November at the newly renovated Spanish City in Whitley Bay.
The annual awards celebrate the huge contribution that businesses make to the local economy and how they make North Tyneside a great place to live, work and visit.
Last year’s Business of the Year, GasTech Ltd has gone on to win a number of other awards including SME of the Year Award at the Tyneside & Northumberland Awards and be named as a finalist in other awards. Commenting on their success: “The award has stood us in good stead going forward, as a company we have a growing presence across the North East and beyond.”
The deadline for all applications is Friday 21 September. The competition is open to all private sector businesses from all sectors and sizes, charities are not eligible for these awards. All applicants must have been trading for a minimum of six months on September 21, 2017.

The best new business created in North Tyneside which has been trading for less than 24 months.

Retail & Service Provider
Any business which sells a product or service.
- Quality and originality of the offer
- Evidence of great customer care and attention to customer needs
- Ability to move with the times and develop new techniques
Leisure & Tourism
The business which has helped to enhance the leisure and tourism offer of North Tyneside.
- Quality and originality of the offer
- Growth of client base/profile of users outside of the borough
- Range of products and services to rival other business
Manufacturing & Construction
Any business which is in the manufacturing or construction industry.
- The use of local supply chains and services where possible
- Use of environmentally friendly products and services
- Promotes the use of new technology to increase business productivity
Digital & Innovation
A business which has embraced technology and innovation to drive forward the business.
- How the business has adapted its offer to make best use of new technologies
- Why digital technology has been used and what problem(s) it has overcome
- How the new product / service benefits the businesses end users and customers
