Not only were they winners in the recent LABC (Local Authority Building Control) Northern Building Excellence Awards, they have now been awarded quality assurance accreditation.
It is the 19th successive year they have received the accreditation, which follows an external audit by certification body Exova BM TRADA.
North Tyneside Building Control is a service provided for North Tyneside Council by its partner Capita. Based on Cobalt Business Park, the team’s role includes ensuring building work is compliant with building regulations legislation plus safeguarding the health and safety of people around buildings.
A consultancy service is also offered providing advice on construction and regulatory related matters.
Last month North Tyneside Building Control and PCD UK Ltd were joint winners at the LABC Northern Building Excellence Awards.
They won the category of the ‘Best Partnership with a Local Authority Building Control Team’. They will now compete in the Grand Finals, which will be held at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge in London.
Building Surveying Manager Craig Gill said: “We’re proud to have gained accreditation for a 19th successive year.
“This year we were required to meet a new, more complex standard, which makes the achievement even more satisfying. What’s most important though is the fact that the accreditation gives the council, our other customers and the wider public, confidence in the service we provide.
“I’m also delighted for PCD UK Ltd and proud of my own team to have been recognised at the LABC Northern Building Excellence Awards.
“We have had a strong relationship with PCD UK Ltd for a number of years. They’re a company that’s dedicated to quality and have an open and professional approach when working with us.
“We’re excited about the chance to gain national recognition later this year.”

Notes to editors:
PCD UK Ltd has worked with North Tyneside Building Control for several years, consistently ensuring they are kept up to date with live and prospective projects
Their schemes have included: domestic extensions; residential change of use; renovation of blocks of flats; and, most recently, new build housing in Dudley.
In Dudley, PCD UK was contracted to build 14 exclusive residential dwellings. The finished scheme retained historical features and created a pleasant cul-de-sac on an unsightly, unused brownfield site. Together with their team, PCD UK Ltd also met the requirements of both the Building Regulations 2010 and North Tyneside Council's planning department.
LABC is the member organisation that represents Local Authority Building Control departments in England and Wales. The northern region features all authorities from the Yorkshire/Lancashire border to the Scottish border.
