Dazzling display attracts thousands

Thousands of people from across the region descended on The Links for North Tyneside’s annual fireworks extravaganza.

The free display, held annually as part of the council’s Winter Festival, has become a firm favourite in the borough’s festive calendar and this year attracted over 15,000 people, stretching from the Spanish City to St Mary’s Lighthouse.

As well as the dazzling display, there were fairground rides and refreshments available for those attending.

North Tyneside’s Winter Festival runs until January 20 and consists of a number of events held across the borough, including fireworks displays, Christmas markets, pantomimes and much more.

The full Winter Festival programme is available online at www.visitnorthtyneside.com and from libraries and Tourist Information Centres.
