Further support is on the way for carers in North Tyneside following a successful week of events and activities for Carers Week 2019.
North Tyneside Council is committed to improving the health and wellbeing of all carers living in the borough and is keen to build on a week of awareness-raising and support.
Two follow-up events are set to take place at Killingworth's White Swan Centre on 20 June at 1pm and 26 June at 11am to promote technology solutions that can make life easier for carers and support the person they care for.
There are approximately 22,000 carers in North Tyneside who are looking after a parent, partner, child or friend.
Caring can be a hugely rewarding experience but sometimes carers find it challenging to take care of their own well-being whilst caring and the impact of caring on health and well-being should not be underestimated.
This year the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS) is highlighting the opportunities that technology can offer to support carers, particularly easily accessible mainstream things such as Skype, Alexa, and the various apps which are readily available.
If you are a carer and are looking for information, advice or support please contact North Tyneside Carers’ Centre or visit My Care North Tyneside information pages for carers. Or for more information about activities, groups and events please visit the North Tyneside SIGN directory.
