North Tyneside 10k road race 2020: secure your place in popular race

Entry is now open for the North Tyneside 10k Road Race, a contender for one of the UK’s most scenic road races.

The race, which takes place on Easter Sunday (12 April 2020), starts at The Parks Sports Centre in North Shields taking in the Fish Quay, the River Tyne, Tynemouth Priory and Castle and a long stretch of coastline before finishing at St. Mary's Lighthouse in Whitley Bay.

Runners travel from across the UK to compete in the tough coastal course, and with the 2019 race being an early sell-out runners are being urged to enter quickly to avoid disappointment.

Organised by North Tyneside Council with support from Start Fitness, the 6.2 mile event features chip timing, results by SMS, video clips and a goody bag with souvenir t-shirt.

Entry fee for a UK Athletics Club member is £17 and a non-club member fee is £18.

Last year's winning times were 32m 36s (male) and 38m 31s (female). The overall course record stands at 30m 20s by Mongolian athlete Serod Batochir in 2011
