Grub's up at this year's Tynemouth Food Festival

A popular food festival will return to one of the North East's most spectacular locations later this spring, with thousands expected to attend.

Tynemouth Priory and Castle will host Tynemouth Food Festival on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 May, from 10am to 5pm.

The annual event, which overlooks the North Sea and River Tyne, will see some of the region’s best street food vans and stalls offering incredible tastes and smells.

Food traders confirmed include Papa Ganoush, Fat Hippo, Scream for Pizza, Acropolis, Hatch 76, The Little Fishy, Redheads Mac’n’Cheese, FlipnFast, Cubanos, Tynemouth Coffee and many more.

A selection of stalls will be selling locally produced artisan products and there will also be a festival bar stocking North East craft beers and ciders, alongside special gin, cocktail and Prosecco trailers.

There will be lots of space to sit and listen to live music and some great activities for children including; cooking classes with Fun Little Foodies, craft and messy play sessions with ARTventurers, facepainting, balloon modelling, drop-in sports sessions and more.

Councillor Sarah Day, Cabinet Member for Culture, Sport and Leisure at North Tyneside Council, said: “Tynemouth Priory is a stunning and unique venue to hold an event. There’ll be a fantastic range of food on offer, as well as live music and lots to keep children entertained too.

“The food festival is a highlight on our events calendar and is part of an exciting range of events taking place this year, from the road race at Easter to the Mouth of the Tyne Festival this summer.”

Advance tickets are on sale now at www.seetickets.com and are priced at £3 for adults. Children aged 15 and under are free, when accompanied by an adult.

The event is organised by North Tyneside Council and is supported by Bernicia.
