The annual Mouth of the Tyne Festival, organised by North Tyneside Council, has announced another wave of acts for this year’s event.
Leading the way is an intimate show from Newton Faulkner at Playhouse Whitley Bay on Tuesday 7 July. The English singer-songwriter is best known for his percussive style of guitar playing. His first four albums all made the top ten including the double platinum Hand Built by Robots and Rebuilt by Humans. Tickets for Newton’s show go on sale this Friday (13 March) at 9am at www.ticketmaster.co.uk or 10am from the Playhouse box office.
Special guest artists have also been revealed for Keane and Lighthouse Family’s shows at Tynemouth Priory.
Teesside siblings Joe and Helen Hammill, better known as Cattle & Cane, return to the festival as support to Keane after a memorable performance in 2017. The indie folk-pop duo have the ability to shift even the hardest of hearts with perfect, soaring harmonies. They will be joined by Clean Bandit collaborator Eliza Shaddad. The Scottish-Sudanese singer-songwriter earnt her stripes busking in London and released her debut album Future in 2018.
The Lighthouse Family will enjoy support from American soul singer PP Arnold. She was born into a family of gospel singers and has enjoyed an amazing musical career, working with Barry Gibb and Peter Gabriel among many others. She has enjoyed chart success on both sides of the Atlantic for over 50 years. Just last year she released her ‘New Adventures’ album produced by lifelong fan Steve Craddock of Ocean Colour Scene.
Also on the bill is Georgie, who has just finished supporting the band on their nationwide tour. Georgie gave up a promising career in professional football after discovering a guitar and her uncle’s record collection. She caught the eye of Jake Bugg and has been a frequent tour support of his.
The festival, now in its 16th year, takes place in Tynemouth and features spectacular outdoor concerts at Tynemouth Priory and Castle, free world-class street entertainment, a jazz stage, children’s pageant, activities in Tynemouth Station and much more.
The last remaining tickets for Keane and Lighthouse Family at Tynemouth Priory are available at www.ticketmaster.co.uk and www.seetickets.com.
Tickets for punk poet John Cooper Clarke’s show at the Playhouse are still available, although Saving Grace, featuring rock legend Robert Plant, sold out in just 20 minutes.
The festival is supported by Engie and Port of Tyne.
