Free cultural festival comes to North Tyneside

A new free festival celebrating North Tyneside’s cultural diversity is set to take place in the borough this weekend.

North Tyneside Together will feature live music, street food, small fairground rides for children and activities including henna hand art and drop-in sports sessions.

The event will take place in Northumberland Square, North Shields, this Saturday (4 September) between 10am and 4pm.

The live music stage will feature a steel band, gospel choir, klezmer band and artists performing songs from Bollywood movies. Stages School of Dance will also be performing, along with African dancing and drumming.

There will be international street food and stalls from a range of community organisations.

The event is close to lots of great town centre businesses for refreshments too.

North Shields Customer First Centre will host displays, films and fun activities for children and families throughout the day.

The event will provide an opportunity for residents and visitors to learn about each other’s cultures and traditions.

The full main stage line-up can be found at www.visitnorthtyneside.com.

North Tyneside Together is organised by North Tyneside Council and supported by the Welcome Back Fund, ERDF action to support the safe return to high streets and town centre recovery following the pandemic.
