Leading regional employers will showcase their latest opportunities at a jobs fair in a North Tyneside shopping centre next week.
Organised by North Tyneside Council, the recruitment event at Wallsend Market, Wallsend Forum, on Wednesday September 22, aims to connect employers with local talent in the heart of their communities.
Jobseekers or those looking for a change of direction will have the chance to meet in an informal environment with companies that are actively recruiting across a wide range of sectors.
Businesses attending include major regional employers EE, Verisure, Go North East and McDonald’s; Newcastle hospitality venues The Lofts and The Mayfair Pub & Kitchen; and leading care providers including Home Care Plus, Be Caring, Unisus, and Everyday Care and Support who will be on hand to talk about rewarding careers in the health and social care sector.
Various roles are available at all levels and include full and part-time positions, apprenticeships, as well as training and graduate opportunities. It is free to attend, and no appointments are necessary.
North Tyneside Elected Mayor, Norma Redfearn CBE, said: “North Tyneside Council is committed to improving job prospects and skills and training opportunities for our residents.
“This event is a fantastic chance for people to meet prospective employers face-to-face and for employers to access our brilliant local talent pool.
“We have a great range of businesses and organisations coming along who are looking to recruit people with all kinds of skills and experience – whether it be an apprenticeship, the next step on the ladder or a career change.
“I would really encourage those looking for a new role or for more information to come along on September 22.”
Karen Goldfinch, chair of North Tyneside Business Forum, said: “A lot of businesses in our forum are struggling to get the right staff – across various sectors. Many are expanding as the recovery from the impact of the pandemic continues, which of course is great to see, but they need staff to continue to grow too.
“There’s such a diverse range of jobs going, working in a variety of settings, with some really exciting businesses determined to develop. They’re wanting to support our local area as they know what a great place it is to work in.”
The Wallsend Jobs Market takes place on Wednesday September 22, from 12pm to 3pm at Wallsend Market, Wallsend Forum, Wallsend NE28 8JR.

Top Tips for jobseekers from North Tyneside Council’s Employment and Skills Service:
- Dress smartly, some employers may interview you on the spot so first impressions count
- Talk to all employers, they may be advertising for a role you have never considered, keep your options open and find out more
- Print off some copies of your CV so you can leave them with the employer
- Take a pen with you
- Prepare your elevator pitch - an elevator pitch - also known as an elevator speech -is a quick overview of your background and experience. The reason it's called an elevator pitch is that it should be short enough to present during a brief elevator ride. This speech is all about you: who you are, what you do, and what you want to do (if you're job hunting).
