Housing apprenticeship opportunities go live

Shannon Moulding

North Tyneside Council’s Housing service is looking for its next crop of talent.

Every year, the council’s Property Services team creates a number of apprenticeship opportunities for people to join the team.

Apprenticeships are an excellent way for anyone to get into work and gain qualifications while getting real, on-the-job experience.

And with the team’s excellent success rate for getting apprentices into permanent work, there aren’t many places better to start a career – Shannon Moulding can attest to that.

Shannon started as a Business Administration Apprentice within the council’s Property Services team and has now earned herself a permanent position as a Technical Administrator.

Speaking on the success of her apprenticeship, Shannon said: “I know that my apprenticeship has allowed me to develop as a person both inside and outside of work. I’ve learnt a lot from a young age and have grown as a person due to my apprenticeship. For someone like myself, who didn’t want to go to university, this opportunity was the best decision I made, and I know it has opened a lot of doors for the future.

“Throughout the past 18 months, I’ve received amazing support from all members of staff within the council and have created great relationships with a lot of other members of staff. Whether I was supported with my college work, within my actual job role or just general enquiries, I have always received the best support.

“Despite already securing a permanent role within North Tyneside Council I look forward to what opportunities are upcoming and I intend to learn as much as possible at all times and carry on developing myself to high standards so I can achieve new successes.”

From frontline positions like gasfitters and electricians, to office-based positions in customer service and business administration, there are a wide variety of opportunities available.

There is also an additional focus on attracting women for these positions, with figures showing that the vast majority of workers in the construction industry are men.

If you, or a young person you know, would be interested in one of our apprenticeships, they can find the full list of positions on North East Jobs here.
