Kickstart your early years career in North Tyneside

Early years employers and training providers in North Tyneside are coming together this month to promote the fantastic opportunities available in the borough.

The childcare sector in North Tyneside is known for its success, with a majority of providers being rated good or outstanding by Ofsted, and residents have the chance to step into the industry with a range of roles available.

To promote working in the sector, North Tyneside’s employment and skills service is working with childcare providers in the borough to offer a range of specialist advice, guidance, training, and job opportunities.

On Wednesday 14 December it’s hosting a dedicated open day at the new Working Well North Tyneside hub in North Shields’ Beacon Centre, where those interested in a career in childcare are encouraged to head along to access its dedicated support.

With opportunities available at local providers including Backworth Childcare, Linskill Nursery, Good Time Childcare, Leigh’s Nurseries, Kids 1st and Busy Bees, it’s the perfect chance to see what’s available in North Tyneside.

There’s something available for people at every stage of their employment journey, including those who are already qualified in the profession, those looking to return to childcare or those interested in training and gaining qualifications.

Cllr Hannah Johnson, Cabinet Member for Inclusion, Employment and Skills at North Tyneside Council, said: “Working in the Early Years sector can be extremely rewarding as you have the opportunity to make a difference to children’s and family’s lives and watch them develop over time.

“We have a fantastic childcare sector in North Tyneside where providers work hard to ensure our children have the best possible start to their lives, and there’s some great opportunities to play a role in this.

“With expert training courses and qualifications and great roles for those already qualified available, I’d encourage anyone who’s considering a career in the sector to head along to the open day and speak with our specialist teams. Your next job could be waiting.”

The open day is one of the first specialist events to take place at the new Working Well North Tyneside hub which opened in December. The series of events will promote local opportunities across a variety of sectors in the borough.

The hub brings together partners including community organisations, employers, training providers and more into one location to offer a one-stop-shop for employment and skills.

Training courses will commence in January and the training provides level two and three qualifications needed to work in the sector.

CV reviews will be available on the day, pre-booked appointments can be made by emailing employability.skills@northtyneside.gov.uk. The open day runs from 9.30am to 3.30pm.
