Family Silent Discos come to Cullercoats

Cullercoats will host family-friendly silent discos this weekend as part of the borough’s annual North Sea Weekender series.

Two local DJs will battle it out as the beach becomes a dance floor this Saturday, 23rd September.

Musicians Beccy Owen and Liz Corney will go head-to-head to win over channel-switchers via a mixture of party and children’s classics, pop, rock, hip-hop, funk, soul and of course, disco; all of which aims to get people moving and in the mood for a fun afternoon of dancing.

‘Silent Disco Tots’ will be first up for the younger movers featuring kids party hits, as well as some 80s, 90s, and 00s classics for the grown-ups.

The second disco ‘Silent Disco For All’ will welcome music loving families to have fun together.

The beach will remain open as normal but with an area sectioned off for those who have purchased tickets for the events.

More information can be found at www.silentdisconcl.co.uk.

For those who are uncertain about what a silent disco entails, it’s an entirely unique and welcoming event.

There are numerous channels on each set of wireless headphones, with everything from Disney classics to 80s power ballads.

North Sea Weekender is a series of events featuring surfing, stand up paddle boarding, wellbeing experiences, special one-off music shows and more.

This weekend will also see two shows featuring talented musicians at Tynemouth’s Watch House Museum.

Michael Curran’s Deaf Fiction and Lee-Ann Curren will perform on Friday 22 and Saturday 23 September respectively.

Remaining tickets for both shows are at www.seetickets.com.

North Sea Weekender is supported by North of Tyne Combined Authority.
