North Tyneside’s contact centre workforce is shining a spotlight on their rewarding and flexible careers, to encourage more to consider a career in customer services.
The new campaign delivered by North Tyneside Council, shares the experiences and career journeys of more than 20 colleagues working in the sector.
Cobalt and Quorum business parks, North Tyneside’s employment and skills service and the North of Tyne Combined Authority have joined forces to showcase the fantastic job opportunities and training currently available in the borough.
Home to two large and thriving business parks which host regional, national, and international organisations, North Tyneside has a wide range of contact centre roles available which are recruiting right now.
No previous contact centre is needed for these roles, just a willingness to learn,
Victoria, Richard and Jasdeep are among the employees sharing their experiences to inspire more people to move into a contact centre career.
Victoria Palmer first started her contact centre career 18 years ago as a call centre agent and thanks to training and progression opportunities is now working in her dream job with Foundever: “Working in contact centres for 18 years has given me the confidence and skills to progress into my dream job as a Learning Specialist.
Starting as a call centre agent, I was given all the support I could have ever hoped for, and now I am able to help those starting out in their career.”
Richard, who works as a Customer Services Advisor at North Tyneside Council says his natural qualities are part of his reasons for enjoying his career. He said: “I work in customer services because I enjoy talking to people from all walks of life with different enquiries.”
Jasdeep Sandhar who works for Leeds Building Society is promoting the friendly and fast-paced atmosphere he works in, saying “Contact centres are a great place to work, everyone is friendly and helpful.”
Lynn Cramman, manager of Cobalt Park said: "Many businesses at Cobalt Business Park have an element of contact centre roles and we are delighted to support our business community with this important campaign to highlight opportunities and career progression in contact centre roles.
The office environment has changed massively over the last few years with flexible working, brilliant collaborative break out spaces and staff engagement. Work in partnership to showcase the changing face of contact centres roles with this campaign and bespoke support sessions will really shine a light on these vibrant and important careers."
North Tyneside Council’s Employment and Skills team is on hand to help people prepare for the recruitment process including training, advice and guidance.
