Ocean Colour Scene are the second headline artist announced for this year’s Mouth of the Tyne Festival, organised by North Tyneside Council.
The indie rock crowd-pleasers will perform at the spectacular Tynemouth Priory and Castle on Thursday 11 July 2024.
With five Top 10 albums and seventeen Top 40 singles, they are probably best known for their hits Riverboat Song, The Day We Caught The Train, The Circle and Hundred Mile High City.
Formed in Birmingham in 1989, the band were a mainstay of Britpop with three top five albums: Moseley Shoals, Marchin’ Already and One From The Modern.
Last year, they released a career-spanning box set which contained all their studio albums along with five bonus CDs, totalling 230 tracks.
Special guest on the night will be Roachford, a much-loved artist whose hits include Cuddly Toy, Family Man, Get Ready and Only to Be With You.
Councillor Carl Johnson, North Tyneside’s Deputy Mayor and Cabinet Member for culture, tourism, and events said: “This promises to be a very special night with a really great band and a show packed with songs many people know and love.
“With Rick Astley’s show sold out and more announcements to come, this year’s festival is shaping up to truly be one to remember.”
Tickets go on sale at 9am this Friday at See Tickets and Ticketmaster.
The annual Mouth of the Tyne Festival is organised by North Tyneside Council and supported by Port of Tyne and Shop NT.
Turning 18 next year, the event will return to Tynemouth village with its usual mix of music, street entertainment and special one-off performances.
Ocean Colour Scene join pop legend Rick Astley on the festival line-up whose show on Friday 12 July sold out in just a few days.
