Killingworth Library is inviting readers to discover Seven Days, a Sunday Times bestseller by local author Robert Rutherford (also known as Rob Scragg) – with the chance to be immortalised as a character in his next book.
The library is offering complimentary copies of the gripping thriller, which has earned glowing reviews. The initiative, called Killingworth Reads, was launched at a special event where attendees met the author and asked questions.
Residents are encouraged to pick up a copy - while stocks last - and share their thoughts via a feedback form. Completed forms will be entered into a prize draw, with the lucky winner having their name – or that of a loved one – featured in Rob’s next book.
The initiative aims to spark a love of reading and bring the community together through a shared story. It builds on the success of Wallsend Reads in 2023, which engaged hundreds of readers through partnerships with schools, local groups, and businesses.
Councillor Hannah Johnson, Cabinet Member for Libraries, said: “We want as many residents as possible to take part and help spread the word about this fantastic book. Whether you read occasionally or devour books regularly, this project is a fun way to unite people and engage them with their local library. It’s especially exciting to promote a local author, and we hope it’ll encourage more people to explore Rob’s work.”
Copies of the book are available to collect now.
