North Tyneside Council is supporting a new campaign from Northumbria Healthcare to raise awareness of contraception options and encourage residents to take charge of their sexual health.
The campaign is aimed at anyone aged 13 and above and highlights that contraception is free and widely available. It also promotes the use of condoms to help prevent the spread of sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
Different types of contraception suit different people, and the campaign encourages individuals to explore what works best for them. North Tyneside Council’s support forms part of its wider commitment to improving public health and access to services across the borough.
Those who are sexually active are urged to visit Northumbria Healthcare’s contraception webpage at Northumbria.nhs.uk/contraception to find clear information and support. If anyone is worried about their sexual health or would like to discuss something in more detail, they are encouraged to contact Northumbria Healthcare’s sexual health team directly.
The One-to-One Centre in Shiremoor, which offers sexual health services, has temporarily relocated to Ward 9 on the ground floor of North Tyneside General Hospital. Details about opening times and a video walkthrough of the temporary ward are available here, helping patients know what to expect before attending.
