Police and partners have been out in force in a North Tyneside community to tackle anti-social behaviour and issue warnings to nuisance tenants.
As part of a day of action, officers from Northumbria Police joined with their counterparts at North Tyneside Council as they carried out engagement activity in the Rocket Way area of Forest Hall.
As well as speaking to people living in the area about any issues they face, the council’s Community Protection Team visited several properties to speak to tenants about anti-social behaviour and noise issues.
Two tenancy warnings were issued during the visits, while council teams removed several truckloads of rubbish from the area to improve its look.
The Force’s community engagement van was out at Forest Hall shopping area, at which officers passed on crime prevention advice and spoke to a total of 50 people during the day of action.
Sergeant Peter Mcall, of North Tyneside Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT), said: “As a Force and alongside our partners at the council, we’re absolutely committed to being there for our residents when they need us.
“This day of action has been all about us getting out and showing the community that we’re tackling the issues that matter them and will continue to do so.
“Let us be completely clear, no-one should have to put up with anti-social behaviour and crime on their doorstep and we’re doing everything in our powers to prevent further incidents from happening while also taking action against those responsible for such activity.
“Rest assured, we’ll continue to carry out high-visibility days of action, re-emphasising to those who cause disruption in the community that it will not be tolerated under any circumstances.”
Sgt Mcall added: “We rely on information supplied by the public to target our resources so please continue to work with us by reporting issues to either ourselves or the council.
“Your support is very much appreciated and please be aware that any information which you choose to share with us will be treated in the strictest confidence.
“Together, we can keep North Tyneside the welcoming place it is for people of all ages whether you live, work or visit here.”
