A unique calendar featuring 12 stunning images of Whitley Bay has gone on sale in North Tyneside.
The pictures were taken by local residents who entered North Tyneside Council’s Whitley Bay photography competition in the summer.
There was such a positive response to the competition that the council decided to bring the images together into a calendar so they could be enjoyed throughout 2016.
Councillor Eddie Darke, Cabinet Member for Leisure, Tourism and Culture, said: “The response to the photography competition was tremendous and we were overwhelmed by how talented our residents are.
“The calendar is a celebration of Whitley Bay and really showcases some of the best bits of our coastline.”
The photographs in the calendar include stunning shots of St Mary’s Lighthouse and the Spanish City Dome, beautiful images of Whitley Bay beach, and striking pictures of North Sea both at its wildest and most tranquil.
The calendars will be sold for £5 each and are available from Whitley Bay Tourist Information Centre, North Shields Tourist Information Centre and St Mary’s Lighthouse gift shop. They will also be available from the St Nicholas Festival market in Whitley Bay town centre on 4th and 5th December.
Proceeds from the sale of the calendars will cover the costs of production, and any profits will be reinvested into a similar project next year through which the council hopes to produce a calendar of residents’ photographs from across North Tyneside.
