North Tyneside businesses are to be given an insight from the Bank of England into the state of the economy at a business event next month.

Taking place at Tyne Met College on Friday, March 18, 'Showbiz 2016 - Boost your Business' Health and Performance', will begin with a workout to ensure local business is fit to thrive.

The Bank of England Deputy Agent for the North East, Andrew Hebden, will address the attendees on the Economic Forecast for 2016.

Mr Hebden is responsible for gathering economic intelligence from the North East business community to help inform the Bank of England's key decision makers. He also facilitates visits of Monetary Policy Committee members to the region and explains bank policy to regional stakeholders.

Andrew Hebden, Deputy Agent for the North East said "I'm looking forward to meeting members of the forum and hearing directly from them about what they are seeing in their own businesses and across the North East economy more widely"

David Rose, Chairman of the Forum said "The North Tyneside Business Forum is delighted to have the Bank of England at Showbiz 2016 to inform attendees about the Economic Forecast for 2016. The event is a focus on Boosting Business' Health and Performance and having the Bank of England at such an event will show local businesses what to expect in the coming year"

Following the address from Andrew, there will be "power" seminars on the new minimum wage regulations and Workplace Pensions from ACAS and the Pension Regulator, respectively.

Cllr Bruce Pickard, Deputy Mayor of North Tyneside with responsibility for Business Support, added: "This is a great opportunity for local businesses to come along and learn more about the Economic Forecast from someone very knowledgeable on that subject. I'm sure it will be a fantastic and very beneficial event."

Alongside the Bank of England, there will be exhibitors such as North East Growth Hub and A&K Financial Management. Keynote speakers include Lee Gardener teaching "Business Lessons from the Battlefield" and Nigel Risner presenting "It's a Zoo around Here".
