Search for summer festival stars

The Event @ Segedunum Winners 2015

The search is on for young talented bands and singers to audition for a chance to perform at a major North Tyneside festival this summer.

The Event@Segedunum 2016, which takes place on 2 July in the historic grounds of the Segedunum Roman Fort, Wallsend, is a unique outdoor music festival for the borough’s 11 to 18 year olds, showcasing some of North Tyneside’s best young bands and solo artists.

Event organiser North Tyneside Council is encouraging young people who live or study in North Tyneside, aged 11 to 18 to audition for a chance to perform at the festival.

Festival goers at the The Event@Segedunum will also have the opportunity to vote for their favourite performer and the winning act will secure themselves a spot to perform on the main stage at the Mouth of the Tyne Festival, which will be held in the grounds of Tynemouth Priory and Castle.

To apply please email North Tyneside Council participation@northtyneside.gov.uk or you can download an application form on the website at www.northtyneside.gov.uk. The extended deadline for applications is noon on Thursday 24 March.

More auditions will be held on 4 April and 5 March at the Y Studio, Queen Alexandra Sixth Form, Queen Alexandra Road, NE29 9BZ

North Tyneside's Young Mayor, Abbie Armstrong, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for young people across the borough to showcase their talents and get involved in a great event. With a chance to also perform at the Mouth of the Tyne festival is one not to be missed.”

The event is orchestrated by North Tyneside's Young Mayor, Abbie Armstrong, and organised by North Tyneside Council, in partnership with Tyne and Wear Museums and Archives.
