North Tyneside residents and local groups are being encouraged to share their ideas on public transport at the next meeting of the North Tyneside Transport Forum on Tuesday night (15 March) in Wallsend.
The meeting takes place at the Customer First Centre and will get the latest updates on local public transport services and hear more about the regional North East Transport Manifesto consultation, with some time for discussion.
Local bus and Metro operators will be in attendance and there will be the opportunity to raise other public transport-related matters for future consideration. The forum gives people in North Tyneside a chance to share constructive feedback on public transport and promote the use of public transport and its links with cycling and walking. Topics covered at previous forum meetings have included smart ticketing, engaging with young people about public transport and train services on the East Coast main line.
Fiona Swindell, chair of the forum, said: “I would encourage people from across North Tyneside to come along to the meeting to hear the latest updates, join in the discussion, and help support the use of public transport.”
Cllr John Harrison, North Tyneside Council’s cabinet member for housing and transport, said: “It’s great to see transport operators, local groups and North Tyneside residents coming together to discuss our public transport.
“Our aim is to make the transport system here in the borough, and across the region, the very best it can be. It’s vital that we continue to get thoughts, ideas and feedback from residents so we can continue to make informed decisions around the future of our transport systems.
“The agenda for this meeting also includes the North East Transport Manifesto, which will help shape transport in the whole region, and I’d encourage as many people as possible to go along and learn more about it.”
The forum is meeting on Tuesday 15 March 2016, 6pm-8pm (tea and coffee from 5.45pm) at Wallsend Customer First Centre, 16 The Forum, Wallsend, NE28 8JR.
