Residents invited to take part in survey

Press release: An abstract view of the Council crest

North Tyneside Council is inviting residents to take part in a regional survey about waste electrical and electronic items.

The ‘North East England Household Electronic and Electrical Waste Survey’ aims to gather residents’ views to help improve recycling and re-use services for these items.

Over 60 per cent of household electrical goods end up in landfill, where lead and other toxins contained in the electrical goods can cause soil and water contamination. Many of the electrical items thrown away can be re-used or recycled, helping to save natural resources and reducing their impact on the environment.

The survey runs until 31 August 2016 and each month will see prizes of shopping vouchers worth £50 awarded.  To take part, visit https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Electrical_waste_survey.
