Two people are being sought to provide independent support in Code of Conduct and disciplinary matters involving councillors.
In line with legal requirements, North Tyneside Council is looking to appoint two people to help it carry out its duties regarding ethical governance and the Code of Conduct for members.
The role involves being involved in the decision-making process when allegations are made against councillors and any other aspect of an alleged breach of the Code of Conduct.
It may also involve being consulted by a councillor who is facing an allegation of this type.
The two independent people will also be appointed to the Dismissal Advisory Committee.
Anyone interested in applying should have high standards of personal conduct, tact and discretion, and ideally some knowledge of local government.
Training is provided and a modest allowance will be paid. The role is for two years, from 1 August 2016, but may be extended.
The deadline for applications is 13 June – for more information or to apply, write to Vivienne Geary, Quadrant, The Silverlink North, Cobalt Business Park, North Tyneside, NE27 0BY, call 0191 643 5339 or email vivienne.geary@northtyneside.gov.uk
