Young readers brought books to life with a festival celebrating the art of literature.
Following the theme of ‘journeys’, over 700 pupils from across 20 schools took part in the third annual North Tyneside Reading Festival, which invites young people to take part in a variety of workshops to make reading more engaging.
And there was something for everyone on the day, ranging from recreating Disney stories and designing their own musical soundtrack, to solving maths problems and building model rockets.
Alongside local authors Adam Bushnell and Chris Callaghan, advisers from the North Tyneside School Improvement team looked to entertain and inspire the next generation of writers.
Also in attendance was storyteller Chris Bostock, who enchanted listeners with his ever-popular tales.
Held at the Langdale Centre, the event funded was organised by the North Tyneside School Improvement Service, with help from a donation by the North Tyneside Learning Trust.
